What PokerLens and pokerlenshud.com collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed.

Effective: October 4, 2026

PokerLens is a poker tracker and HUD for Windows, together with the website at pokerlenshud.com. Both are made by James Tays ("we", "us"). This policy says what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed. It covers the desktop application, the website, and our test site at staging.pokerlenshud.com.

The short version: your hands, your notes and your statistics stay on your own computer. They reach us only when you share them. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking services.

What stays on your computer

None of what follows is sent to us.

What PokerLens keeps

The application keeps these in its own folder under your Windows profile, %LOCALAPPDATA%\MyLiveHud, unless you choose another place for them:

  • Your hand database. Every hand you play or import, including the screen names of everyone at the table, and the statistics counted from them. On the Databases screen you can create, move or copy a database to another folder, or keep its statistics in a different folder from the database. A database and its statistics are then kept where you put them, and backups are written beside the database they copy.
  • Your notes and color markers on other players.
  • Your settings. These include your license key, your account's name and email, and a sign-in token so you don't have to sign in on every start. Your password is never stored on your computer.
  • Log files. These record what the application did, to help find faults. They are kept for 14 days, and they leave your computer only if you choose to send them to us.

What PokerLens reads but does not own

To find hands, the application reads files that belong to other programs:

  • the hand histories and logs your poker clients write, and the tables a client shows on your own machine
  • the databases of other trackers (PokerTracker 4, Hand2Note, DriveHUD), when you choose to import from them

The hands it finds are copied into your own hand database. The files themselves belong to the poker clients and the other trackers, and removing PokerLens leaves them as they are.

Removing your data from your computer

Uninstalling PokerLens removes the program. It does not remove your data. Your hand databases, statistics, notes, settings, sign-in token and logs stay on your computer, so that installing PokerLens again finds them where you left them. To remove them as well:

  1. Before you uninstall, sign out of PokerLens. This also removes the machine's record from your account (see Your license and your machines).
  2. Open the Databases screen and note where each database is kept. For a database outside %LOCALAPPDATA%\MyLiveHud, delete its file (ending .db), any backups beside it, and its statistics (a file of the same name ending .seats, beside it or in the folder you moved its statistics to).
  3. Uninstall PokerLens.
  4. Delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\MyLiveHud. You can type that path into the address bar of File Explorer to open it.

What we collect

Your account

When you sign up we collect your first name, last name, email address and password. We store the password only as a one-way hash, so we can't read it. If you sign up with a promo code, we record the code and the affiliate it belongs to.

You may add a profile picture. It is shown in the application and on the website. Anyone who has its web address can see it, so don't upload a picture you want kept private. You can remove it from My Account at any time.

Your license and your machines

To check that your license is valid and enforce the number of machines it allows, the application sends us these things:

  • your license key, or your email and password when you sign in from the application
  • an identifier for your computer. It is a one-way hash made from Windows' own machine identifier, and it can't be turned back into the original.
  • your computer's name (for example "DESKTOP-7Q4K"), so you can tell your machines apart on your account page
  • the version of PokerLens you are running

The application checks in when it starts and then every few minutes while it runs. It also keeps a connection open so that a change to your account shows up straight away. For each machine we record when it was activated and when it last checked in. A machine's record is removed when you sign out of it.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight from your browser to Stripe and never reach our servers. To link your payment to your account, we give Stripe your email address and your account number. We keep Stripe's references to your customer record, subscription and payments, along with what you bought, the amount and the dates. Stripe sends your receipts. Stripe handles your information under its own privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy.

If you are an affiliate, you set up your payout account on Stripe's own pages. Stripe holds your identity, bank and tax details, not us. We keep your name, email, promo code, the customers you referred, and the commissions and payouts owed and paid.

Hands you choose to share

When you share hands, the application uploads the hands you picked and, if you ask, your notes. Before they leave your computer, opponents' screen names are replaced with cover names. Your own screen name is included unless you choose to hide it. We also store the title you gave the share and who may see it. That may be anyone with the link, named people by email address, or a study group.

People you share with can see the hands, including the table, the stakes and when they were played. In a study group, members can see each other's email addresses. You can delete a share link, leave a study group, or disband one you run, at any time.

Daily hand counts

Once a day, the application tells us, for each poker site, how many hands it saw and how many it could not read, along with the versions of the site's client and of PokerLens. This tells us when a site has changed in a way that stops us reading it. It contains no cards, no screen names, no license key and no machine identifier. You can turn it off in Settings → General.

Updates and the market

When it starts, the application asks us whether there is a newer version. It sends its own version and which poker sites you have set up. When you hold a license, it also asks the market for any packs you have bought, and that request carries your license key.

Requests and messages

If you ask us to support a poker site, we keep the site's name and the email address you gave us, so we can tell you when it arrives.

Our servers' logs

Our servers keep logs of requests (the page asked for, the result and how long it took) and of events such as a payment or a subscription change. Some entries include your account number. We use these logs to keep the service running and find faults, and they stay on our own systems.

Cookies

The website sets only the cookies it needs to work:

  • a sign-in cookie, which keeps you signed in
  • a security cookie, which protects forms from being submitted by other sites
  • a language cookie, which remembers the language you chose (kept for one year)
  • a promo code cookie, set when you follow an affiliate's link, so the discount is still there when you sign up (kept for 30 days)

On the pages where you pay, Stripe's payment form may set its own cookies to prevent fraud. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • run your account and your license
  • take payments and pay affiliates
  • deliver updates and the packs you bought
  • show shared hands to the people you shared them with
  • answer you when you ask for help
  • find and fix faults

When you ask for help, a member of our staff may view your account as you see it in order to help. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else sees it

We share your information only:

  • with Stripe, to take payments and make affiliate payouts
  • with the companies that host our servers and carry our traffic, who process it on our behalf
  • with the people you choose to share hands with
  • when the law requires it

How long we keep it

  • Your account, subscription and purchases: kept while your account exists. Records of payments are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Machine records: removed when you sign out of a machine.
  • Shared hands: kept until you delete the share link or your account.
  • That a free trial was given to an account: kept even after the account is deleted, so that a trial can't be taken twice. This record holds an account number and nothing else.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited time and then deleted.

Your choices and your rights

You can change your name and picture, cancel your subscription, turn off the daily count, and delete your share links at any time from within the application or from My Account.

To get a copy of your data, correct it, or have your account and its data deleted, write to us at [email protected]. We will do it within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California. Those include the right to object to how we use your data and to complain to your data protection authority. We will honor them.

Security

Everything between the application, the website and our servers travels encrypted over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as hashes. The sign-in tokens we issue are stored only as hashes, so a copy of our database would not let anyone sign in as you.

Age

PokerLens is for people old enough to play poker for real money where they live, and never for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you in the application or by email before it takes effect.
