Study how a pool of players plays

How-to Updated 8 Oct 2026

Pick a group of opponents, set a spot on the action line, and see what they hold and what they do with it.

The Multi-Player report reads a group of opponents — a pool — as if they were one player. Choose who is in the pool (everyone, the regulars, the players you tagged as fish), set the spot you care about on the action line, and see what they turn up with there and how they play each kind of hand.

1

Open the Multi-Player report

Go to Reports on the rail and choose the Multi-Player tab. Pick Cash or Tournaments beside the tabs. The line under the header shows how big the pool is, for example 412 players · 1,284,502 hands.

To begin with, the pool is everybody in your database except you.

2

Choose who is in the pool

Press Pool. The Who is in the pool panel opens. Press Add requirement and choose what a player has to meet:

  • By figures — a statistic between two values, for example VPIP at least 0.35. Enter frequencies as a share from 0 to 1, not a percentage (0.35, not 35).
  • By sample — Hands at least a number, or at least so many opportunities of a statistic, so you only count players you have a real read on.
  • By classification — Marked as one of your color markers. See Tag players with color markers.
  • Written — a requirement written in the statistic language, for example stat(VPIP) > 40% and sample(VPIP) > 100.

Add as many requirements as you like; a player has to meet all of them. The panel shows how many players are in the pool as you go. Press Use this pool to apply it, Reset to start over or Cancel to leave it as it was.

The filter bar still applies. A pool is chosen from the players in the hands the bar admits, so narrowing the bar to 50NL first gives you "regulars at 50NL".

3

Set the spot on the action line

Above the table is the action line: a strip of seats with the actions each one can take. Press the actions in the order they happened, for example BTN › Raise, then BB › Call. After the preflop round the flop appears, and each seat in turn is offered Check or a bet (Bet small, Bet medium, Bet large, Overbet), or Fold, Call and the raise sizes when facing a bet.

You can also choose the board: pick a rank, a suit, both or nothing for each flop card and for the turn and river. A single A on the first flop card means every ace-high flop. Suits are relative — two cards you pick in the same suit mean "two of one suit", whichever suit it is.

To take an action back off, press it again. Everything after it comes off too.

The caption over the strip tells you whose figures you are reading: BB's figures means everything below is about the big blind at that spot, the last seat that acted on your line. With no line set, it reads Every seat's figures.

4

Read what they hold and what they do

The report opens on two sections:

  • What they hold — how often the pool turns up with Two Pair+, Top Pair+, One Pair, a flush draw, a straight draw or air at the street your line reaches.
  • What they do with it — how often they bet and how often they fold with each kind of hand.

Next to Columns, choose All for one figure each, or By position for a column per seat. Press Statistics to add any other statistic as a row.

Opponents' cards are only known when they show them down, so hand-strength figures are measured over shown hands. Players show down stronger hands than they fold, so read these figures with that in mind.

5

Open the workings behind a figure

Click any figure to slide in The workings: how many times the spot came up and how many times the action was taken, the same figure By position, By street and By pot type, The players it came from, and The hands behind it. Press Replay on a hand, or Replay all to play every listed hand through the Hand Replayer, oldest first.

6

Keep the report

Press Keep and name the report. It keeps the pool's requirements, the filter bar, the statistics, how it is cut and the action line. Use Open (or the drop-down at the head of the report) to switch to another kept report later. To arrange it as a page of panels, see Lay out your own report.

If the report is empty

  • "No player meets every requirement" — loosen or remove a requirement.
  • "More than … players match the hands on the bar" — narrow the filter bar, then choose the pool again.
  • A pool over everybody has to read your whole database, so the first reading can take a while on a big one.
