Use a positional HUD

How-to Updated 8 Oct 2026

Show each player's figures for the seat they are in this hand, so a button VPIP is read on the button.

Most players open far more hands on the BTN than UTG, often two or three times as many. A VPIP counted over every hand falls somewhere in between and is wrong in both seats: the button raiser looks tight and the early raiser looks loose. A positional HUD shows each player's figures for the seat they hold in this hand.

1

Open the profile in the HUD Editor

Click HUD Editor on the rail and pick the profile you want to read by position in the Profile band.

2

Choose Positional

Press Positional at the top of the canvas.

3

Tick the box

Tick Show each player's stats for the position they are in this hand. The setting belongs to this profile only.

4

Save

Press Save. Your tables switch over straight away.

What changes at the table

  • Every figure on the panel is the player's figure for the seat they're in now. On the BTN you see their button VPIP; in the LJ, their lojack VPIP.
  • The panel shows the position beside the player's name (BTN, CO, UTG+1…) so you always know which seat the figures are for.
  • The hand count and any colors you set follow the same position-only figures.
  • The popup reads at the position too, so the figure you hover and the figure in the popup always match.
  • The color marker is still worked out over every hand. Who a player is doesn't change as the button moves.

A few things are still shown over every hand:

  • a statistic that can't be split by position;
  • a statistic you wrote for one particular seat, which shows that seat;
  • a player who is sitting out.

Where the position comes from

During a hand at a site PokerLens follows live, the position is read from the deal itself. Between hands, PokerLens moves the button one seat on and shows each player at the seat they're about to be in. A player sitting down, a dead button or a blind posted out of turn can make that guess wrong for a moment; the next deal puts it right.

The Hand Replayer shows each seat at the position it held in the hand you're replaying.

Things to know

  • Positions aren't grouped. Each seat is counted on its own (LJ, HJ, CO…), so samples get thin, especially at full ring. Keep an eye on the hand count beside the name.
  • It's per profile. Combined with the Dynamic HUD, you can read regulars by position and everyone else over every hand.
  • The HUD Editor's preview has no players behind it, so it doesn't change when you tick the box.
