Write your own statistic
Make a custom statistic in the Statistic Editor and use it in your reports and HUD.
If the statistic you want is not in PokerLens, you can write it yourself. Every statistic — yours and the ones PokerLens ships — answers the same question: of the times this spot came up, how often did the player do this? In the Statistic Editor you name your statistic, say when its spot comes up and what counts as taking it, and PokerLens checks it as you type.
Open the Statistic Editor
Choose ANALYSIS › Statistic Editor on the rail, or click Write a statistic at the foot of the table on the Statistics screen. The editor is headed Write a statistic.
Name it
Under What it is called, fill in:
- Name — what it is called in lists, for example Fold to 3-Bet.
- Short label — the few letters it is shown as in a cell, for example F3B.
- Code — the identifier other statistics, kept reports and packs refer to it by. Letters and digits only, no spaces, and it must not already be taken.
- What it measures and Counted over — a sentence each, in your own words.
- Section and Family — where it is filed in the statistics pickers.
- Kind of figure, Format and Decimal places (up to four) — how the figure is written, for example a percentage to one decimal place.
- Reliable from — how many spots it needs before the figure is worth trusting.
- What may narrow it — which narrowings (such as position) it can be cut by.
- Reads — whether a higher figure is looser, tighter, more aggressive, more passive, or Neither way.
Say how it is measured
Under How it is measured, choose one of two kinds:
Counted — a share of two counts. Write:
- When the spot comes up — the moment the statistic is about. For example
facingThreeBet. - What counts as taking it — what the player did at that moment. For example
Fold.
Together those two make Fold to 3-Bet. Because the action is read at the exact decision the spot found, a player who 4-bets and later folds to a 5-bet is not counted as folding to the 3-bet.
Worked out from others — a figure calculated from other statistics. Write The figure, citing them with stat(...). For example stat(VPIP) - stat(PFR) gives the gap between how often a player enters the pot and how often he raises. Its sample is the sample of the statistics it cites.
Read what the language says
Under What the language says, PokerLens checks your statistic as you type. A problem is shown with the line and column it is on and, where it can guess, did you mean …?. When everything is right it says This reads. — and for a statistic worked out from others, which statistics it cites.
Every problem is explained in a full sentence — for example that the statistic has no code yet, or does not say when its spot comes up — so you know exactly what to fill in next.
Save it
Press Save the statistic. The editor confirms Saved as and your code. A statistic the language refuses cannot be saved, so fix what it says first. Discard clears the editor and starts again.
Use it
Your statistic joins the list PokerLens measures with:
- In the Player and Multi-Player reports, press Statistics and find it in the section you filed it under, or search for it. See See your statistics by position.
- In the Multi-Player report, use it in a pool requirement, for example "players whose figure is between two values".
- Share it with other players in a statistic pack. See Share statistics with statistic packs.
In this version the HUD Editor and the Statistics screen list only the statistics PokerLens ships. Custom statistics are used in reports for now.
Manage your statistics
The statistics you have written lists everything you have saved. Use Forget this statistic to remove one.
If a statistic stops working after an update, it moves to Statistics that no longer read. It is kept with its text so it can be repaired, but no report draws it until then.
Things to know
- A statistic you write has No bands under How a figure reads, so its figure is shown plainly rather than colored as a leak.
- A statistic with no spots behind it shows a dash (—), never a zero.
