Give each kind of player a HUD of their own

How-to Updated 8 Oct 2026

Make profiles and link them to color markers, so regulars, recreational players and whales each get the panel that suits them.

Against a regular you might want ten detailed figures; against a whale, three big ones. PokerLens draws each seat with the HUD profile that player's color marker is shown for, so every kind of player can get a panel of their own. This is the Dynamic HUD.

1

Open the HUD Editor and choose Dynamic

Click HUD Editor on the rail and press Dynamic at the top of the canvas. A Marker band appears with every color marker you keep: the five that come with PokerLens (Regular, Recreational, Whale, Unknown and Hero) and any you made on the Color Markers screen.

2

Make a new profile

Type a name in the Name this profile box (for example Whales) and press New profile. To start from a copy of the profile you're looking at, press Duplicate instead. Rename gives the selected profile the name in the box.

A new profile isn't shown for anyone yet, so nothing at your tables changes until you link it in step 4.

3

Lay out its panel

Choose its statistics and arrange them for each street exactly as in Set up your HUD.

4

Show it for a marker

In the Shown for band, press the chip of each marker that should see this profile, such as Whale. Every marker shows exactly one profile, so pressing a chip here moves that marker from its old profile to this one.

5

Choose its popup

Use the Popup dropdown to pick the popup a click on this profile's panel opens. Each profile can open a different popup, or none. See Design a popup.

6

Save

Press Save. At your tables, every whale now gets the Whales panel, and everyone else keeps theirs.

Edit what a marker sees

With Dynamic selected, click a marker in the Marker band to open the profile it is shown for. The canvas and the popup band switch to that profile, so you can work through your HUD one kind of player at a time.

The Popups window has the same Marker band, so you can preview the popup each marker opens. You choose which popup a profile opens only in the HUD Editor, though. If a marker's profile opens no popup, the Popups window says so.

How a player gets a marker

  • Hero is always your own seat.
  • Regular, Recreational, Whale and Unknown are worked out from the player's statistics. A player stays Unknown until there are enough hands to judge.
  • You can set any marker by hand: right-click the player's panel at the table and choose Marker. A marker you set by hand stays until you change it or choose None.
  • Markers you create yourself are only ever set by hand.

See Tag players with color markers.

Static and Dynamic

Static hides the Marker band so you can edit profiles one by one by name. It doesn't change what your tables draw: every seat always follows its player's marker. If you want one HUD for everyone, show every marker the same profile, which is how a new installation starts.

Delete a profile

Select it and press Delete. PokerLens asks first and tells you which profile the markers showing it will show instead. You can't delete your last profile.

To use a different profile at one table only (for example a tough game), you don't need to change any markers. See Switch a table to another HUD.
