Import from PokerTracker 4

How-to Updated 8 Oct 2026

Bring your PokerTracker 4 history into PokerLens, so your statistics start with every hand you have played.

If you've been using PokerTracker 4, you can bring the hands it holds into PokerLens, so your HUD and reports start out with your whole history. PokerLens reads the hands straight from PokerTracker's own database; you don't need to export anything first.

1

Open Import Hands

Click Import Hands on the rail, under Setup. The Where the hands are panel lists the three trackers PokerLens can import from, and says under each whether it was Found on this machine or Not found on this machine.

2

Choose PokerTracker 4

Click PokerTracker 4. PokerLens fills in the connection from PokerTracker's own settings:

  • Server and Port — where PokerTracker's PostgreSQL database runs (usually on this computer).
  • User and Password — the database login PokerTracker uses.
  • Database — which PokerTracker database to read.

If PokerTracker has more than one database, each one it knows about is listed next to Use: — click the one you want. If anything is wrong, simply type over it.

Leave PokerTracker 4's database server running while you import. You don't need PokerTracker itself open.

3

Test the connection

Click Test connection. If PokerLens can reach the database, it tells you how many hands are there, for example 2,571,338 hands there. If not, it says It could not be reached and why — check the server, port, user and password.

4

Choose what to bring in

Under What to bring in:

  • Period — Everything, Last 30 days, Last 3 months, Last 6 months, Last 12 months, or Between two dates you choose (both days are included).
  • Games — Both, Cash or Tournaments.
5

Start the import

Read the line above the button: reports won't be available until the import has been fully processed — your hands are imported first, then your statistics are updated. Then click Start.

The Importing hands window shows how many hands have been read so far, how many were Kept, Already held and Set aside, and the estimated time remaining. When the hands are in, it moves on to Updating statistics…. Click Close when it says Done.

Afterwards the Import Hands screen sums it up: for example 120,000 kept, 3,400 already held, 8,173 set aside.

You can click Stop at any time. Everything kept up to that point stays kept, and starting the import again later skips the hands you already have.

What the numbers mean

  • Kept — hands added to your PokerLens database.
  • Already held — hands PokerLens already had (for example, from an earlier import). They aren't added twice.
  • Set aside — hands PokerLens can't read yet, usually because they're from a site it doesn't read hand histories for yet. They aren't thrown away: they're kept to one side so they can be read in a later version.

While it's processing

You can keep using PokerLens. The Statistics screen works as normal. The Reports screen shows Reports are waiting on your import, with the step it's on (Step 1 of 2 · Importing hands or Step 2 of 2 · Updating statistics), a progress bar and the time remaining. As soon as the import is fully processed, your report opens by itself.

On a Small Stakes license, a database holds up to 200,000 hands; once it's full, no more hands are kept. If your PokerTracker history is bigger than that, import it during your 30-day Pro trial or on Pro, or choose a shorter Period. See Small Stakes, Pro and your trial.

If it doesn't work

  • PokerTracker 4 shows Not found on this machine. Fill in the connection yourself — you'll find the details in PokerTracker's database settings.
  • It could not be reached. Make sure PokerTracker's PostgreSQL server is running and the password is right, then click Test connection again.
  • Lots of hands were set aside. Those are hands from sites PokerLens can't read yet. They're kept, and will be read once PokerLens learns that site's format.

Player notes and colors from PokerTracker aren't imported yet — only hands.
