Keep PokerLens up to date

How-to Updated 8 Oct 2026

Take new versions of PokerLens and of your poker sites when they are offered.

PokerLens checks for updates every time it opens — both for the application itself and for each poker site you have set up. When something new is waiting, it tells you; when you're up to date (or offline), it says nothing and gets out of your way.

1

Open PokerLens

Start PokerLens as usual. While it starts, the splash screen shows what it is doing — Starting…, Picking up your session…, Opening your database…, Drawing the window…. Once the main window is up and your license has been checked, PokerLens asks the PokerLens website what's new.

If there is an update, the Updates window opens over the main window with the heading Updates are waiting. Each row is one update: The application for PokerLens itself, and one row for each poker site with a newer version, showing the version you have and the version on offer (for example 1.4 → 1.5).

2

Close your poker clients

Nothing is updated while a poker client is open, so a site never changes underneath a running table. If one is open, the window says Close … to update and names it. Close it, and the Update buttons come back on their own within a couple of seconds.

3

Take the updates

  • Click Update on a row to take just that one, or
  • click Update all to take every site and then the application, one after another.

Each row says Updating… while it works and Ready. It is put in place when the application starts again. when it's done. Every site update is checked to make sure it really came from PokerLens before anything is installed, and the version you had is kept beside it.

4

Restart

Once at least one update is ready, choose:

  • Restart now — PokerLens closes cleanly and starts again once, with the updates in place.
  • Later — keep working. The updates are put in place the next time you open PokerLens.

If your database changes

Occasionally a new version changes the way your hands are stored. Before that happens, PokerLens opens a window titled Your database is about to change and suggests a backup:

  • Backup Database saves a copy of your database next to it and tells you where it went.
  • Carry on continues without a backup.

The backup is a suggestion, never forced — but it only takes a moment, and we recommend it.

If it doesn't work

  • Updates need a license, or the trial. Updates are held back if your trial or license has ended. Click License settings in the window to see where you stand; see Small Stakes, Pro and your trial.
  • Could not be updated. Click Update again. If it still fails, it will be offered again the next time PokerLens opens.
  • This copy was not installed with the installer, so it cannot update itself. Download PokerLens again from the website and run the installer; see Install PokerLens.
  • "… has no version for it yet" on the application's row means one of your sites hasn't been updated for the new version of PokerLens yet, and wouldn't load until it is. You can wait and take both together later.

To add a site you don't have yet, go to Settings › Poker sites › Sites to download. See Set up your poker sites.
